What do I need to make this sweet treat (Oreo truffles with cream cheese)?

  • Oreo cookies :- The cookies’ unique balance of crunch and sweetness makes them ideal for forming into truffles that are easy to roll and coat with chocolate. They also have a familiar, crowd-pleasing taste that most people love,
  • Soften cream cheese :- Block cream cheese works best since it has less air in it than tub cream cheese. As a result, the truffles will keep their shape better. Full fat is highly recommended.
  • Melted Chocolate: Milk, dark or semisweet chocolate chips can be used (make sure it’s good qaulity chocolate for easy melting)
  • Sprinkles :- Add sprinkle to decorate your truffles. You can used anything what you want. Used drizzle chocolate over the truffles as well.

How to make Oreo truffles with cream cheese (step-by-step process)

  • Your recipe Begin by crushing the entire package of Oreo cookies, including the filling as well. You can use a food processor for this to get fine crumbs, or if you don’t have one, then place the cookies in a large ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin. The crumbs should be fine, as this helps the truffles stick together.

  • Once your Oreos are crushed, then transfer them to a large mixing bowl and add the softened cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs. You’ll need to use a spatula or your hands (it’s going to get sticky, but it’s worth it!) to combine the mixture until it’s fully blended and smooth. Make sure the texture should be soft and moldable.
  • After the Oreo and cream cheese mixture is fully combined, it’s time to form your truffles. Scoop out small portions of the mixture (about a tablespoon each) and roll them into balls using your hands and Place each truffle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Continue until all the mixture is used up. You should get around 30-36 truffles.
  • Before dipping the truffles in chocolate, they need to firm up. Pop the tray of Oreo balls into the freezer for about 15-20 minutes. This makes them easier to dip into melted chocolate without falling apart.
  • You’ll need to melt your chocolate. You can do this in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and completely melted. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate, as it can become thick and difficult to work with. If you prefer, you can also melt the chocolate using a double boiler.

  • Once the truffles are chilled and the chocolate is melted, it’s time to dip! Using a fork, carefully dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s fully coated. Let any excess chocolate drip off before placing the truffle back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.

  • Once all your Oreo truffles with cream cheese are dipped and decorated, let them sit at room temperature or pop them back in the fridge for the chocolate to harden completely. This usually takes about 15 minutes. No more waiting for serving!!

How I melt the chocolate :

Choosing the right method for melting the chocolate makes the huge difference. We have two methods of melting. i.e., double boiler method and microwave.

Double boiler method:

I prefer the makeshift double boiler method, which is a heat-safe glass bowl placed over a pot of simmering water and Place the chocolate in the bowl and stir gently. The steam will heat the bowl and melt the chocolate slowly without burning it. Remove bowl from pot when completely melted.

Using microwave:

The second method is using the microwave. Place the chocolate in a heat-safe glass bowl and melt it in the microwave by heating it for 1 minute at 50% power level, then stir the chocolate and return the bowl to the microwave. Heat and stir in 20 second intervals at 50% power level until chocolate is melted.

3) If your melted chocolate is too thick, add a small spoonful of coconut oil or vegetable shortening to thin it out. This helps create a smoother, shinier coating on the truffles and makes them easier to dip.
4) Make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing. This will make it easier to blend with the Oreo crumbs and create a smooth, consistent texture for your truffles.
5) If your mixture feels too soft to roll into balls, pop it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. This will firm up the mixture, making it easier to handle and shape into perfect truffles.
