If you’re unfamiliar with Italian tiramisu, let me introduce the recipe. Actually, classic tiramisu recipe is the best Italian dessert. The name “tiramisu” translates to “pick me up” or “cheer me up” in Italian, which is fitting given its invigorating ingredients.

Classic tiramisu includes only 4 to 5 main ingredients, i.e., ladyfinger cookies, rum, egg yolks, and mascara.  These are the key ingredients of this recipe, and it is not a baked dessert.

Most of Italians serve classic tiramisu recipe on special occasions, and nowadays many of our countries used to serve it as a special dessert. You can make a gluten-free tiramisu recipe by using homemade ladyfinger cookies. I have tried different variations of this recipe, but to be honest, I only love the original version, which is made from ladyfinger, espresso, rum, and mascarpone. It gives a tangy, creamy, slightly bitter taste.

Everyone loves the no-bake recipes, and the tiramisu is also one of them. Simply, you’ve got to soak the ladyfingers and arrange them over the cream, then refridgerate it. Wait, wait!! This is just a short review of the recipe. I have mentioned the full recipe below.

► espresso or strong coffee
► golden rum, divided
► ladyfinger cookies
► large egg yolks
► sugar
► mascarpone, cold
► heavy whipping cream
► unsweetened cocoa powder

Espresso/Strong coffee:- The rich and strong flavor of espresso complements the sweetness of mascarpone cream. His bitterness helps to balance the oversweetness of mascarpone cream. It softens the ladyfinger, which makes the dessert perfect texture. It gives the classic aroma as well as maintaining the authenticity of Italian dessert .

Golden rum: The alcoholic content of rum helps to balance the sweetness of dessert. Instead of rum, you can use coffee liqueur or Marsala wine as well . It provides a more mellow taste, and this is the better choice for tiramisu. It enhances the overall sensory experience and complexity of the dessert. Golden rum gives a comforting smell, which enhances the dessert appeal.

Ladyfinger cookies:- It is also known as savoiardi. This is airy, light, and slightly crispy, which softens without becoming mashy while we dip into the espresso. It gives a rich base without being soggy. The shape of ladyfingers allows for perfect distribution of layers. This is the cultural choice to make the perfect tiramisu dessert.

Egg yolks: It helps to stabilize the mascarpone cheese mixture. The slightly buttery taste of egg yolks enhances the overall flavor of tiramisu. It combines with sugar and creates a custard-like base that folds into mascarpone. You can make egg less tiramisu as well.

How To Make This Classic tiramisu recipe of dessert

1) Take a medium bowl and add 1 and 1/2 cups of espresso and 3 tablespoons of rum. Let it aside.

2) To prepare custard cream, take an egg yolk and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar and whisk them together. Place them over the saucepan with simmering hot water. (Make sure that water does not let into the mixture.) Keep them at low heat.Continuously whisk the mixture up to 10 minutes, and it’ll be lighter in color and thickened. Set aside to cool that mixture.

3) Take another mixing bowl and add the mascarpone and 3 tablespoons of rum. Beat the mixture until it’s well combined. Add the egg yolk mixture into it. Beat the overall mixture until it becomes creamy and well-incorporated.

4) In another mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipped cream until medium peaks form. then fold the whipped cream into our mascarpone mixture. Don’t overmix the cream. Mixed till just combined.

5) Quickly dip the half of ladyfinger cookies one by one into the espresso mixture and arrange them in a baking dish. Spread the half of custard like cream over the ladyfinger.

6) Set the other layer of ladyfinger and cream, then cover your baking dish with the help of plastic wrap, then refridgerate for at least 6-7 hours.

7) After 6-7 hours, I can’t wait to see my dessert. Open that plastic wrap and it’s ready to serve. Ok, ok, wait for the garnishing.We will garnish this super delicious dessert by spreading unsweetened cocoa powder on it. Dust the Dutch process cocoa powder (highly recommended). If want to design at the top feel free to design with whipped cream , strawberries etc. and cut the pieces & here we go to serve.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 and 1/2 Cups Espresso Or Strong Coffee
  • 6 Tbsp Golden Rum Divided
  • 30 Ladyfinger Cookies
  • 5 Large Egg Yolks
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar
  • 16 Oz Mascarpone Cold
  • 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 2-3 Tbsp Cocoa Powder Unsweetened

Instructions
 

  • Brew 1 cup of strong espresso and let it cool.
  • In a bowl, mix 1 cup of mascarpone cheese with 1/2 cup of sugar until smooth.
  • Whisk in 3 egg yolks and 1 cup of heavy cream until the mixture is light and fluffy. Gently fold the mascarpone mixture into the whipped cream.
  • Briefly dip ladyfingers in the cooled espresso and arrange them in a layer in your serving dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • And now Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Then, Dust with cocoa powder before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

1) Don’t over-soak your ladyfingers ,Dip ladyfingers in coffee for only 3-5 seconds to prevent them from becoming too soggy.                                                           
2) Beat mascarpone with sugar and eggs until stiff peaks form, but avoid over beating. Not whipping mascarpone enough, resulting in a too-soft cream.
3) Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld. make sure you should not chilling the dessert long enough it affects the texture and flavor.
4) If you prefer a slightly richer tiramisu, fold in some lightly whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture. This will make the texture even creamier.

1) Can I make tiramisu without raw eggs??

Ans:- yes you can make vegan Tiramisu. In Which you’ve to used blend Greek yogurt or cream cheese instead of raw eggs. also used combination of milk, sugar and cornstarch which will give you creamy consistency.

2) What can I use as a substitute for mascarpone cheese??

Ans: Their are several options.you’ve to used cream cheese, ricotta cheese instead of mascarpone cheese it also provides the same Creamy texture. Yogurt is also best option it gives slightly tanginess to the cream mixture. silken tofu with lemon juice also adds the flavour in it.

3) Is tiramisu suitable for kids??

Ans:- If you want to serve the kids you must have to omit the ingredients based on alcohol. You’ve to used fruit juice or milk instead of using coffee or liqueur . Simply replace the mascarpone cheese to sweetened cream cheese . Used of fresh fruits & chocolates makes the tiramisu kid-friendly.

4) why is my tiramisu too runny??

Ans:- Don’t overwhipped your cream .it should be beaten to stiff peaks only. If your ladyfingers are too much soaked in espresso they become so soft and ultimately your dessert will be too runny. Make sure it’ll be chilled for several hours. If it is not chilled enough it might be runny.

5) Can we eat tiramisu when pregnant?

Ans:- Yes you can eat but make sure you’ve to prepare non-alcoholic tiramisu. In which you need to replace the rum and coffee. You’ve to used pasteurise eggs other than raw eggs. But it’s better to avoid tiramisu during pregnancy.
